In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of James Daniel (Danny) DeVeaux, Class of 1978. Danny passed away from inoperable liver cancer on Sunday, 7 February 2016 in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his parents, Chaplain and Mrs. John & Gaynell DeVeaux, who live in the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, NV. Danny and my late Mom (Fern) and I went and visited them during the 2012 WAHS Reunion. Danny is also survived by two siblings, John and Faith, who attended Wurzburg Elementary School during the 1976-1977 school year. Danny played on the WAHS Football Team as running back and defensive linebacker during the 1976 season, helping the Wolves win a Silver Division Championship. Danny also played on the 1977 Basketball squad with Bobby Cato, Willie Cato, John Lawler, Tony Wilhelm, James McManus and others. Danny also ran track with the 1977 Track team. Danny’s passion was music. He played guitar, bass guitar, wrote music, taught music, and played in several bands around the Tucson area. Danny will be cremated tomorrow (2/17) and his family will gather in a private memorial for him in the coming days. If I get anymore information, I’ll let you know. I think you met Danny at the 2012 Reunion in Vegas during an after party in Mary Hefty’s suite. I will try to get the word out, especially to his former football teammates. Thanks a bunch, Bob. Talk soon. Your friend, Leslie 951-343-3376
